Kadima MK Roni Bar-On on Wednesday accused Likud chair Binyamin Netanyahu of using Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's illness for his own political gain, Army Radio reported.
Bar-on was referring to an interview Netanyahu gave to the New York Times on Tuesday, in which Netanyahu complimented Sharon, calling him "one of the great generals that the Jewish people and state have put up in modern times."
Netanyahu, summing up his work as finance minister under Sharon, said that "[They] transformed Israel's economy from a monopolistic, high-tax, statist economy into a more vibrant, free market one, and we rescued Israel from an Argentinian-style collapse."
Netanyahu summed up the economic policy as "a very important passage for Israel," and "a real partnership" between himself and Sharon.
