Barak expects progress in Schalit talks if Gaza truce reestablished

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Monday he expected progress in the negotiations to secure the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit if the Gaza truce is reestablished in the next few days. "The Gaza truce, which I hope will resume in the next few days, will give us an additional opportunity to boost the negotiations in every way," Barak said during a visit to the IDF Induction Center at Tel Hashomer. "We mustn't fool ourselves. We will need to make very difficult decisions to bring him home, but I am willing and prepared to make them."
