Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Thursday stressed the close ties between Israel and the US after a meeting with a visiting congressional delegation led by chairwoman of the US House of Representatives Appropriation Subcommittee, Nita Lowey.
"Israel-US relations are close and strategic with an emphasis on security issues," said Barak. "These meetings translate our special relations into action."
The defense minister expresses his appreciation for the US security aid received thus far which he said facilitated the development of the multi-layered missile defense system. He said that the system would bring about a reality in which most of the rockets and missiles fired at Israel don't reach their targets.
He briefed the US delegation on the results of last month's tests on the Iron Dome and Arrow 2 missile defense systems.
