Cheney: Israel didn't seek US clearance before launching ground op

Israel did not seek US clearance or approval before targeting Hamas with a ground invasion into Gaza, Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday.
He surmised that Israeli leaders had probably decided that an air campaign was not enough to take out the rocket-launching sites.
Cheney spoke on CBS television's "Face the Nation."
