Cost of fortifying homes 1 km from Gaza: NIS 360 million

Government ministers on Sunday were briefed on the cost of fortifying Gaza belt homes which are susceptible to rocket and mortar shell attacks by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The cost of fortifying homes one kilometer from Gaza stands at approximately NIS 360 million, the Construction and Housing Ministry said.
According to ministry estimates, the cost of fortifying all residential homes in a seven-kilometer range from Gaza is between NIS 1 billion and 1.5 billion.
The government will decide in about a month whether to focus on fortifying residential homes around Gaza or to use its budget to develop advanced interception devices in order to stop rockets and mortar shells from reaching Israel.
