Dichter: Jordan can't preach war ethics to Israel

Public Security Minister Avi Dichter on Tuesday urged the Jordanian government to issue a response to reports that the country planned to file a petition to the International Court in The Hague against senior Israeli figures for their actions during Operation Cast Lead. "It is an invalid initiative," Dichter told Israel Radio. "Neither Jordan's parliament nor any other legislative body can preach to Israel about war ethics." Dichter added that Jordan itself had "dark memories" of 'Black September' in 1970, when Jordanian security forces were said to be responsible for massacring thousands of Palestinians. The petition is expected to be filed by head of Jordan's Parliamentary Legal Committee Mubarak Abu Yamin.
