Dozens of police injured in mock riot

Dozens of Israeli policemen have been injured by other officers during a training exercise simulating violent civil unrest. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says about 45 officers sustained light injuries while practicing riot control techniques. He says they were hurt while scuffling with each other. Rosenfeld says five other officers were injured when a police van overturned. He said he could not confirm media reports that the vehicle flipped after a policeman fell asleep at the wheel. About 7,000 officers were participating in the drill in southern Israel on Thursday.
