Egypt rejects offer to hold emergency Arab League meeting in Qatar

Egypt has informed the Arab League that it rejects holding an emergency Arab summit in Doha, Qatar to discuss Israel's military peration in the Gaza Strip, Arab media reported on Tuesday. Egypt prefers a "consultative meeting" in conjunction with an Arab economic summit that will be held in Kuwait on January 19th and 20th, the Egyptian news site reported. The Post could not reach an Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman on Tuesday to verify the report. On Sunday, Qatar called for a ministerial meeting "as early as possible…for consultations on the steps that should be taken to face the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip."
