Comptroller's office investigates readiness of IDF, Police, rescue services.

State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss told the Knesset's State Comptroller Committee Wednesday that 10 percent the employees in his office were working on investigating the war in Lebanon.
"Everyone who participated in any way in the war has, or will be investigated," said Lindenstrauss.

Sending a clear message that he would not hesitate to investigate all levels of the country's leadership, Lindenstrauss told the committee, "I do not rule out the possibility that if we reach a stage in our investigation that we need to ask anyone a question, we will turn our attention to any authority in Israel in order to receive the necessary explanations."
According to Lindenstrauss, among the issues investigated were the level of intelligence and the readiness of the IDF's emergency storage units.
The political echelon was investigated as well, specifically the way it passed on and shared information. The actions and preparedness of the Police, National Fire Department, rescue services and various government ministries were also probed by the comptroller's office. In addition, 24 of 35 local municipalities affected by the war have already been investigated.
Lindenstrauss hailed volunteer organizations for their contributions during the war.
The comptroller promised the committee that he would soon present a preliminary report on his findings. If the results of the investigation are critical enough, the committee has the authority to ask the president of the Supreme Court to create a state inquiry commission.
