The Tel Aviv District Court on Sunday sentenced former border policeman Tomer Avraham to one year in jail and one and a half years suspended sentence for the manslaughter of Azid Abu Riyah in October 2006. Avraham was convicted for killing Abu Riyah in January. The incident took place during a Border Police operation in a building site in Jaffa, where three Palestinians were detained. The detainees were taken for interrogation, where they were beaten, and made to sit facing a wall. During this time, Avraham cocked his weapon and unintentionally pressed the trigger, killing Abu Riyah.
