Fearing disturbances, police to restrict entry to Temple Mount Thurs.

Police have decided to restrict entry to Jerusalem's Temple Mount on Thursday to men over 50 holding Israeli ID cards, and women. The decision came Wednesday following information police received about plans to cause disturbances. Hundreds of police officers will be deployed in east Jerusalem to prevent any outbreak of violence. Palestinian Authority officials called on Palestinians to visit the site. They said Jewish worshipers intended to go up to the mount and claimed they had been encouraged by the Israeli government. The Islamic Movement's northern branch has arranged dozens of buses to take Muslims to the area.
