Fire at Yehud chemical plant leads to evacuation of residents
By JPOST.COM STAFF
A fire that erupted in a chemical plant in Yehud Friday afternoon led to the temporary evacuation of local residents and brought hundreds of others to shut themselves in their homes for fear of dangerous gases.
People living within 100 meters of the plant were evacuated from their homes for several hours, and all residents in the area were instructed by authorities to remain indoors and shut the windows.
Tests conducted later showed no presence of dangerous substances in the air.
One firefighter was lightly injured during the operations.
