Former IDF chief of Staff Ya'alon officially joins the Likud

At a press conference in Tel Aviv, former IDF chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Ya'alon on Tuesday officially announced his decision to run for the Knesset with the Likud party. "I have full confidence in [Likud chair] Binyamin Netanyahu, along with the group that has consolidated in Likud, can constitute an alternative leadership. I hope that I'll be able to contribute to that," he said. Ya'alon explained his deliberations in recent days, saying that his "indecision was over whether or not to enter political life, not which party to join." "My heart said no, my head said yes. The head won," he added. "Looking at the challenges which Israel faces today, I couldn't stand aside."
