Government approves NIS 2b. for Holocaust survivors, the elderly

The government on Sunday approved an additional NIS 2 billion to the country's elderly population and Holocaust survivors. "This is a historical arrangement that will allow Holocaust survivors and the elderly to escape the poverty trap," said Welfare Minister Isaac Herzog. The decision follows a massive public protest to improve the conditions of needy survivors in Israel, amid criticism that the government had failed to help them in their golden years.
