GPO delays credentials for Swedish journalists whose paper published organ-harvesting story

A journalist and a photographer from the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet, which ran an article last week claiming that IDF soldiers kill innocent Palestinians in order to harvest their organs, are running into trouble trying to get press credentials here. Government Press Office head Danny Seaman told the two journalists that he would take up to the maximum 90 days allowed to consider their credentials for entering the Gaza Strip. "We may have to examine their blood type to check if they are eligible for organ donation," Seaman joked on Army Radio Sunday. "If Swedes believe freedom of the press includes publication of vile, anti-Semitic material, then maybe they need to rethink what freedom of the press means," Seaman told The Jerusalem Post, defending his decision to stall the credentials.
