2 small West Bank settlements evacuated Thursday with minimal resistance; 3 protesters detained.

The Samarian outposts of Harhivi and Shvut Ami were evacuated Thursday with minimal resistance; settlers' representatives said police have adopted a new tactic - having male, rather than female, officers physically eject women resisting removal.
Shortly after 11 a.m. officers began to evacuate Harhivi, near Elon Moreh. According to police, one family physically resisted and one man was detained before 11 residents were evacuated and four structures were demolished.
Officers said that when police and soldiers tried to leave the scene, settlers blocked their way with trash cans, and "yeshiva students confronted" the security forces. Three people were detained for attacking police and one civilian received medical care on the scene.
Settlers' representatives, however, told a different story. They said a police officer attempted to attack Elon Moreh's Rabbi Elyakim Levanon and that a student who defended the rabbi was hit and then arrested. Border policemen attempted to arrest a pregnant woman, pulling her even after she pointed out that she was pregnant and had not done anything to warrant her arrest, settlers said.
Shvut Ami was evacuated around three hours after Harhivi. No violence or exceptional incidents were reported by police or settlers.
