High court restricts separation barrier route around Bil'in

The High Court of Justice on Monday issued a precedent-setting ruling that limits how far the separation barrier can jut into the West Bank. The court ruled in the case of Bil'in, where the barrier separates the West Bank village of from much of its land. The court ruled last year that the Bil'in segment of the barrier must be moved closer to Israel. Bil'in's attorney, Michael Sfard, said that on Monday the court rejected a new Bilin route proposed by Israel. The judges said the route made too wide a loop from the settlements. Sfard said this would affect pending challenges against the barrier.
