High-ranking officer arrested for links with criminal, fraud

A high-ranking police officer and a civil guard volunteer from the Amakim police subdistrict, part of the Northern district, were arrested on Monday over suspicions of fraud, forgery, and embezzlement. According to suspicions, the officer was involved in the vehicle trade, and was abetted by the volunteer who was formally under his command. The officer is also suspected of holding links with a well-known local criminal. The officer has reportedly received praise in the past for outstanding achievements in the police areas of patrol, intelligence, detective work and command.
