Israeli forces killed two Hamas gunmen in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, in the latest fighting between the sides as Israel presses on with its military offensive in the coastal area, Palestinian officials and the army said. The troops killed the gunmen in the heat of a battle in Khouza, a village east of the Khan Yunis refugee camp that borders Israel, Palestinian security officials and Hamas sources said. Three other Palestinians have been wounded in the fighting, which is ongoing, the officials said. The army confirmed troops were operating in the area on a mission to destroy "terrorist infrastructure." The forces fired on armed men that appeared to be planting a bomb in the area and identified hitting several gunmen, the army said. Late Monday, the IAF fired missiles at a house in southern Gaza that the army said belonged to an operative. The army said the structure was used to store weapons. No one was wounded in the air raid.
