IDF forces shot and killed a Palestinian teenager Thursday during a raid in a village near the West Bank town of Jenin, Palestinian security officials said. The security officials, as well as the boy's family, said the 16-year-old was throwing rocks at soldiers when they shot and killed him in the village of Shuhada. The family said the boy was not armed. The army said that the troops were responding to fire directed at them and shot towards an armed man on a roof but did not know if he was hit.
  • IDF foils rocket attack in northern Gaza Meanwhile, IDF forces operating in Nablus overnight arrested the city's Islamic Jihad leader. Mohammad Katana was apprehended by Golani troops and according to defense officials was responsible for planning and executing attacks against Israeli targets. Islamic Jihad's main base of operations is in Nablus. Officials said the group's infrastructure in northern Samaria was responsible for sending the suicide bomber that was nabbed in a Bat Yam apartment last month. Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, an Islamic Jihad terrorist died Thursday of wounds sustained a day earlier in an IDF artillery attack on rocket launchers, doctors said. One other Palestinian was seriously wounded in the strike. In other IDF operations, 15 Palestinian fugitives were arrested overnight Wednesday throughout the West Bank. While sweeping a building near Nablus in pursuit of an Islamic Jihad suspect, soldiers discovered a pistol and an ammunition clip.
