Wheelchair tennis player Ilanit Fridman was suspended on Thursday for one month after testing positive for a banned substance.
The 29-year-old Israeli player tested positive for terbutaline, a drug used to treat asthma, at the US Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships in San Diego on October 5.
An independent tribunal ruled that Fridman committed a doping offense, but found no intent on her part to use the drug to enhance performance. That charge would have carried a two-year ban.
The ITF said Fridman was at fault for failing to ensure that she had a "Therapeutic Use Exemption" allowing her to take the drug.
