A 78-year-old man was found dead in his Jaffa flat on Saturday afternoon. Police also found his injured wife, along with the couple's son, in the apartment. Police arrested the son, 37, on suspicion of stabbing his father to death and attacking his mother. Magen David Adom said the woman was lightly hurt, and evacuated her to Holon's Wolfson Hospital. The mother was quoted as saying that the son had "gone crazy" in the flat. Police continued to investigate the circumstances of the incident. When police arrived, they arrested the man at the entrance to his parents' building. The man reportedly had a minor scuffle with a police officer, but was eventually handcuffed. A preliminary examination of the premises suggested that the suspect had attacked his parents with a variety of instruments found in the house. Neighbors crowding out on the street said the man was suffering from mental disabilities, and that he was recently released from a psychiatric hospital. "He was always in and out of institutions," a neighbor said. "We saw police taking him out of the apartment wearing nothing but underwear and with blood smeared over his legs, but it didn't seem like it was his blood," another neighbor said, adding "when the cops caught him and walked him to the police car he wiggled from side to side and at one point even fell to the ground. It looked as if he was drugged or inebriated."
