AMMAN, Jordan — Jordan has summoned Israel's ambassador to protest his country's West Bank expulsion rule.The official Petra news agency said on Wednesday that Daniel Nevo was handed a "harshly worded" letter describing the Israeli move a "blatant violation" of Israel's obligations as an occupier of Palestinian territories.Israeli Embassy spokeswoman Merav Horsandi confirmed Nevo was summoned Wednesday.Under the Israeli military order that took effect Tuesday, anyonecaught in the West Bank without an Israeli permit could face expulsionwithin days or be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.On Monday, an Israeli military official denied the order could pave theway for large-scale expulsions, indicating it was aimed at foreignactivists.
