The main Defense Ministry and IDF towers in Tel Aviv's Kirya military headquarters will be completely evacuated during the home front emergency drill next week. The evacuation will take place next Tuesday at 11 a.m., when a siren will be sounded nationwide. All army and Defense Ministry personnel will be ordered to immediately exit their tower via the stairs. This is the first time that the offices will be evacuated. The double-tower structure was inaugurated in 2005. "This is an important part of the drill," explained one Defense Ministry official. "Hizbullah, Iran and Syria all have missiles that can hit Tel Aviv and the Kirya. We need to be prepared for this possibility." The exercise, called "Turning Point 3," will run from Sunday to Thursday. Government offices and 252 local councils and municipalities will open "crisis rooms" and will be asked to respond to various emergency scenarios. The exercise is the third home front drill to be held since the Second Lebanon War in 2006 and the founding of the Defense Ministry's National Emergency Administration, which is responsible for setting national emergency standards.
