Man killed after falling from a ravine in Mount Gamal in the South

A man who was hiking on Mount Gamal in the Negev fell into a ravine on Sunday and later died from his injuries. After the man fell some 40 meters, other hikers in the area alerted rescue forces when they heard him screaming as he was falling down. A Magen David Adom team that was scrambled to the scene could not reach the man, who was apparently hiking alone. The Mount Negev rescue team was scrambled to the scene, but even they failed to reach the man. Eventually the Israeli Air Force's helicopter rescue team was called for help and a military paramedic reached the man. He was found unconscious and without a pulse. Later his death was pronounced.
