Man shot to death during attempted robbery in Jerusalem

A man was shot to death on Saturday morning after he attempted to run over police officers who had tried to arrest him. According to reports, residents of Jersualem's German Colony alerted police after spotting a man and a woman breaking into a clothing store on Emek Rafaim street. When the police arrived on the scene, they called on the burglars to exit the store and give themselves up, but the two instead tried to flee. The officers said they were forced to open fire when the thieves tried to run them over during the escape. The man - a resident of east Jerusalem - died at the scene. His accomplice was arrested and taken for further investigation.
