Mazuz: Zeiler report not representative of police

Attorney General Menahem Mazuz told the Knesset House Committee on Tuesday that he didn't believe the claims of the Zeiler report against police were representative of the organization. Nevertheless, he said, the police had gone through certain "events," examples of which appeared in the report. The attorney general added that the police had recently been going through a series of organizational changes and improvements of the internal inspection processes and that it was crucial that dealing with the report's findings was thorough and constructive. Mazuz also said that he had appointed a team to implement the report's recommendations regarding with State Attorney's Office and the Police Investigative Department (PID) and that he would reopen an investigation into the Batteries Affair.
