Meretz chairman dissatisfied with findings of Cast Lead probes

Meretz chairman Haim Oron on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction with the findings of the IDF probes into Operation Cast Lead, saying there was not enough to "dispel the harsh notion that too many red lines were crossed" during the operation.
"The clear norms of avoiding civilian casualties must not be distorted, as this would lead to a slippery slope to the abyss," he added.
As the IDF publicized findings from five different probes into accusations that were raised during the January's operation, Deputy Chief of General Staff Maj.-Gen. Dan Harel said they showed that the IDF operated in the Gaza in accordance with international law and succeeded in maintaining a high level of professionalism and morals even though it fought against an enemy that cynically uses civilians as human shields.
