A 30-year-old man from Petah Tikva was killed in an apparent drive-by shooting attack on Tuesday, in what police suspect was a criminally-motivated assassination.
The victim worked at a currency exchange office, which is located on the same street as the victim's home. According to eye witnesses, the victim was shot several times on his street by masked men in a Mazda vehicle.
Police believe the murder could be linked to loans on the grey market. The gray market refers to private companies that offer loans to borrowers who are not in a financial position to receive bank loans.
Magen David Adom paramedics tried to resuscitate him and rushed him to the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in the city, where doctors declared him dead.
Several months ago, an employee was assaulted at the currency exchange office. Following the attack, the murder victim acquired a guard dog for the premises.
The homicide investigation is being headed by the police Central District's Central Unit, and officers have obtained a court-ordered media ban on the publication of further details on the investigation for the next 30 days.
