Netanya mother convicted of abusing her daughters gets two years

The Tel Aviv District Court on Sunday sentenced a woman from Netanya, who was convicted of abusing her daughters, to two years in prison. According to the indictment, between 2005 and 2007, the mother used knives and broom sticks to attack and abuse her ten-year-old and eleven-year-old daughters. In one incident, the mother heated a knife over a gas burner and then placed it on her daughters' hands and feet. In another incident, she hit one daughter with a broom stick and continued to strike at her even as she fell to ground, stopping only when the stick broke. "One can only be appalled and horrified with the defendant's treatment of her daughters," Judge Zacharia Kaspi wrote, adding that "her actions are, without a doubt, grave and serious, and show clear symptoms of cruelty."
