PA source: Unilateral steps by Israel a 'problem'

The Palestinian Authority has yet to issue an official response to Tuesday's meeting between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and US President George W. Bush, in which Bush expressed cautious approval of Olmert's plans for unilateral steps in the event that no progress were made in negotiations with the Palestinians. However, a PA official close to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said Tuesday night that unilateral steps by Israel would present a "real problem" for the Palestinians, Israel Radio reported. "We cannot accept such a solution," the official said. "And we hope that the US will not support such steps."
