Palestinian protesters clash with IDF troops at West Bank checkpoint

Palestinian demonstrators clashed with IDF troops at the Hawara checkpoint near Nablus on Sunday. Several hundred protesters approached and scuffled with the soldiers who responded with tear gas and stun grenades and detained two people. There were no serious injuries reported. The army said it used only non-lethal measures to disperse the crowd. It also said anyone who was detained had been released. The protest marked "Land Day," a date observed mainly by Arabs inside Israel to protest land seizures and government discrimination.
