A pedestrian was killed in the early hours of Sunday after being hit by a car on Highway 6 near Sha'ar Efraim. A Magen David Adom team pronounced him dead at the scene. According to an initial police investigation, a couple and their three children were traveling southward in a private vehicle. At approximately 5 a.m., as the car was passing under the Taibe-Sha'ar Efraim bridge, the father, who was driving, felt that he had struck something. He braked and once the car reached a halt, saw that the engine's hood was crushed. The driver immediately contacted Magen David Adom and told them that he feared he might have run over someone, and that his family and himself were lightly injured from the impact. Medical teams reached the site and eventually came upon the body of a young man by the roadside. No identifying documents were found on the body.
