Peres: Ban suggested new proposal to solve Gaza situation

President Shimon Peres said that UN Secretary-General Ban-Ki Moon on Thursday night suggested to him a new proposal to solve the Gaza situation. According to Ban's proposal, Peres said, Israel and Hamas would declare a cease-fire for a few days in order to evacuate the wounded and supply food, and in the meantime, a permanent cease-fire would be discussed. Peres told Israel Radio on Friday that there were two floors in Gaza: underground Gaza and overground Gaza. The president said that the Hamas leaders hiding underground did not know what the "abandoned" Gaza civilians were going through. He went on to say that Hamas was becoming more isolated from the Arab world.
