Report: PM promised to give up Golan in exchange for direct Syria talks

Knesset sources raised concerns that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was prepared to make "painful concessions" to advance negotiations between Israel and Syria, Army Radio reported Wednesday morning.
According to sources on the Right, Olmert was prepared to promise Damascus that Israel would withdraw from the Golan Heights, on the condition that the Syrians would agree to direct talks, and to discuss cutting ties with Iran, Hizbullah and Hamas.
