Search underway for Israeli man missing at sea

26-year-old said to be suffering from depression, may have jumped overboard; helicopters and ships scouring Mediterranean sea area.

Helicopters and ships were searching Monday for a 26-year old man who fell from a tourist ship into the Mediterranean Sea, according to official sources in Cyprus. It was not known whether the man had fallen, been pushed, or jumped of his own accord.
The sources said that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) had joined Israeli and Cypriot search efforts.

Israel Radio reported that the man may have jumped overboard as he was suffering from depression.
According to AFP, a statement released by the defense ministry said a SOS signal was received at around 3:00 am Monday, saying the Israeli man had fallen overboard. He had been sailing from Haifa to the Cypriot port of Limassol.
"The search will continue until all means of the rescue operation have been exhausted," said the defense ministry statement.
