IDF Sgt. Taysir Hayb, convicted of killing British International Solidarity Movement member Tom Hurndall in Rafah in 2003, will stay in incarceration out of fear of a breakdown in relations with the UK.
The IDF Prosecution said Tuesday that it was opposed to releasing Hayb, despite the fact that he had already served two thirds of his sentence, citing, among other reasons, the possibility of a diplomatic crisis with Britain.
The parole commission agreed with the prosecution's stance and ruled that Hayb must stay in military incarceration.
