Amit Inbar, one of the greatest ever Israeli wind surfers, achieved outstanding international success during the 1990s. His accolades include winning the 1993 and 1997 European Championships and finishing the year as the world's number one mistral wind surfer four times during the '90s. He was also Israeli national champion seven times during his career.
Growing up in the small town of Michmoret close to the seaside, in the center of Israel, Inbar always had a close relationship with the ocean. He received his first surf board as a present in 1979 when he was seven years old and never looked back. His hours of practice in the water paid off and by 1990 he was the top wind surfer in the world in his class.
Inbar represented Israel at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and Sydney in 2000 but was unable to bring home a medal.
During his long career he also finished second in the World Championships on three occasions. After retiring Inbar coached some of Israel's top surfers for several years and these days he's running a surfing school.
