Student protesters break into Shochat Commitee

Several dozen students protesting against the tuition raise proposed by the Shochat Committee broke into the committee's meeting on Wednesday morning. The protesters who broke into the meeting confronted security guards in the building and shouted at committee chairman Avraham Shochat. Police were called to the scene and the students were escorted out. The Shochat Committee convened in the Open University building in Tel Aviv for a meeting regarding subsidized tuition for higher education. Hundreds of students gathered in front of the building to protest, claiming that the committee's conclusions would lead to a raise in tuition. Student bodies have been working to have the committee disbanded since it was formed, claiming that it aimed to raise tuition.
