Sudanese cleaner accused of stabbing Russian tourist arrested in Eilat

A 26-year-old Sudanese hotel cleaner suspected of stabbing and seriously wounding a Russian tourist at the Eilat Hilton on Monday was arrested by police as he ran out of the building "covered in blood," police said on Tuesday. Police said an argument erupted between the 35-year-old tourist and the Sudanese refugee after he had attempted to enter the Russian's room to clean it. The Sudanese man later told police that he was assaulted by the tourist, and claimed he had stabbed the Russian with a piece of glass and a shaving blade in self defense. The tourist sustained cuts to his face and neck and was seriously injured. He was rushed to the Josephtal Hospital, where he remained in serious condition on Tuesday, Eilat Deputy Police Chief, Dep.-Cmdr. Eitan Gadsi told The Jerusalem Post.
