TAU opens program with Northwestern

Tel Aviv University's Buchmann Faculty of Law unveiled on Tuesday a Masters program in public and international law that will offer a degree from both Tel Aviv University and Chicago's Northwestern University. "The program will significantly upgrade and update the legal training [of participants] in the field of public service," said Prof. Hanoch Dagan, dean of the law faculty. The program's offerings will focus on legal issues related to current events and public policy. "We thought a great deal about what we can offer serious jurists who might not think they need further education," said Prof. Ron Harris, the faculty's vice dean. The list of subjects, Harris continued includes "globalization, the constitutional revolution, privatization, international law, welfare, environmental law and local government." "We don't see ourselves as training ordinary lawyers," added Dagan, but rather "judicial leaders for Israel."
