A tense standoff between Palestinian Authority security chief Jibril Rajoub and his bodyguards and IDF troops was resolved over the weekend without violence, Israel Radio reported Sunday morning. IDF soldiers at a checkpoint in Hebron stopped the PA official and his security guards when they noticed that his bodyguard had a pistol. Soldiers charged their weapons, and threatened to "hurt" Rajoub's bodyguard. The soldiers' lieutenant battalion commander arrived on the scene and diffused the situation. Rajoub was campaigning in Hebron prior to January's Palestinian Authority elections, in which he is trying to win a prize spot on Fatah's list.More about:Palestinian National Authority, Jibril Rajoub, Fatah, Hebronfunction initServerVars() { _headup.clientHost = 'http://newstopics.jpost.com'; _headup.termsFromServer = "Palestinian Authority$$Jibril Rajoub$$Fatah's$$Hebron"; _headup.annotatedTerms = ['dbpedia:Palestinian_National_Authority$$1', 'dbpedia:Jibril_Rajoub$$1'] _headup.widgetMode = 'snippet'; _headup.snippetButtonStyle = 'banner'; _headup.blackListedUrl = false; } <!-- Terms Count: 4 TTL: 60 Terms From Server: Palestinian Authority, Jibril Rajoub, Fatah's, Hebron DateTime: 6/2/2011 11:21:15 AM -->
