Man stumbles and falls on airstairs while alighting a Transaero Airlines flight from Russia.

A tourist in his sixties was seriously injured on Thursday afternoon after he stumbled and fell down a mobile staircase while alighting from an airplane that landed at Ben-Gurion International Airport.
A Magen David Adom team treated the unconscious man, who had arrived on a Transaero Airlines flight from Russia, and evacuated him to the Tel Hashomer Medical Center. The MDA team had fortunately been waiting by the airplane as there was an ill passenger on board the flight.
Following the incident, the Israel Airports Authority issued a statement saying that "the tourist sustained injuries to his head after falling, for an unknown reason, while departing the plane.
"He arrived on a flight that receives ground services from the Lauper company. Airline carriers can choose whether they prefer passengers to alight via a jetway or via a ramp. Transaero chose to use airstairs," the statement read.
The Lauper company, however, said that the airstairs were Israel Airport Authority equipment.
Transaero Airlines also denied responsibility, saying in a statement that "the passenger left the flight in perfectly good health, injury-free.
"When he started walking down the stairs something happened and he fell. The stairs are not in the airline's responsibility. These questions should be directed at the airport's ground services company."
