ANKARA, Turkey — Dozens of protesters scuffled with police near the venue where Israel was playing Serbia in a volleyball tournament on Saturday.The protesters were carrying posters of Furkan Dogan, the youngest of nine pro-Palestinian activists killed in Israel's May 31 raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.RELATED:Report: Israel holds flotilla shipsAnatomy of an ongoing crisisSome protesters pounded police shields with Palestinian flags before the game Saturday.Turkey increased security for the Israeli team which was in Ankara for a women's European Volleyball League tournament. The game has been closed to spectators.In February, an Israeli basketball team was pelted with bottles and forced to flee the court.The protests come after The Prime Minister’s Office Counter-Terrorism Bureau last week lifted a travel advisory which recommended that Israelis refrain from visiting Turkey.The advisory was issued after fears that Israelis would be the victims of negative reactions to the botched raid on the Turkish flotilla.
