Two no-confidence motions were expected to be put to a vote in the Knesset on Monday, Israel Radio reported. One motion, submitted by the Likud faction, cited the "powerlessness of the government" in dealing with arms smuggling into the Gaza Strip. The second no-confidence motion, coming from United Torah Judaism (UTJ) and NU/NRP, was related to the poverty situation and the decision to suspend the consumer price index (CPI) linkage of special bonuses for children and the elderly.
