Ya'alon: Calm in Gaza will last long enough for Hamas to restock

Former IDF chief of staff Lt.-Gen. (res.) and Likud Knesset candidate Moshe Ya'alon said on Saturday that the present calm in the Gaza Strip was being implemented out of Hamas's interest and that the group only needed to preserve this situation for a year. A year is the adequate time period needed by Hamas to restock on arms and to rehabilitate itself, Ya'alon told an audience at the 'Shabbat Tarbut' event in Beersheba. Ya'alon also praised current IDF commander Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi's handling of Operation Cast Lead, adding that this would be the response to indiscriminate firing of rockets on civilian populations.
