Yishai pushes for bill giving him power to revoke citizenships
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Interior Minister Eli Yishai ordered Shas MK David Azoulay to submit a bill according to which the interior minister would have the power to revoke citizenships without the authorization of the attorney-general or the court.
Currently, Citizenship Law stipulates that revoking citizenship requires the attorney-general's authorization and the court's consent.
Yishai is pushing for the amendment in the wake of delays in revoking the citizenships of four Arab Israeli terror suspects currently residing abroad.
