The relationship between President Javier Milei, the Jewish community in Argentina, DAIA, and the State of Israel is going through one of its strongest and most meaningful moments.
This is not merely a matter of political affinity or symbolic gestures but a shared vision rooted in democratic values, the defense of freedom, and a clear and firm stance against antisemitism.
Since the beginning of his term, Milei has consistently and explicitly expressed his support for the Jewish community in Argentina, acknowledging its historic, cultural, and social contributions to the country.
This support is also reflected in a mature and respectful institutional relationship with DAIA (Delegación de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas), the body that serves as the political representative of Argentina’s Jewish community and plays a central role in defending rights, promoting coexistence, and combating all forms of discrimination.
Historic milestones
This bond has been further reinforced by two historic milestones that mark a turning point in relations between Argentina and Israel.
For one, the inauguration of direct flights between Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv – a long-awaited initiative – brings both countries closer in tourism and trade, while also strengthening cultural, familial, and community ties between two deeply connected societies.
For another, the decision to open Argentina’s embassy in Jerusalem this coming April represents a political step of great significance. This measure reaffirms the Argentine government’s alignment with Israel and sends a clear message to the international community: Argentina is taking a principled position consistent with its values and with the defense of Israel’s right to live in peace and security.
We are firmly convinced that Milei’s unconditional support for both the Jewish community and the State of Israel enables concrete and sustained actions in the fight against antisemitism, particularly at a time when hatred and intolerance are rising alarmingly around the world.
At the same time, this support strengthens Argentina’s Jewish community – the sixth-largest in the world – by providing a framework of trust, recognition, and institutional backing from the highest level of the state.
The relationship between the president, DAIA, the Jewish community, and the State of Israel is not circumstantial. It is strategic, deep, and based on convictions. And it is consolidated not only through words but through concrete actions that reinforce Argentina’s commitment to coexistence, freedom, and the defense of democratic values.■
