Anti-Semitic graffiti sprayed on walls of Venezuelan synagogue

Anti-Semitic graffiti bearing slogans which included "We don't want Jews here," and "Jews go from here," was found on Saturday sprayed on the walls of a Sephardic synagogue in Venezuela, Army Radio reported. The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Venezuela. Over two weeks ago, Venezuela expelled the Israeli ambassador from the country in protest over Operation Cast Lead. In response, Israel last week expelled the staff from the Venezuelan embassy in Tel Aviv. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has also drawn criticism from officials in Jerusalem for his strengthening relationship with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, his support of the Iranian nuclear program, and his outspoken opposition to Israeli policies regarding the Palestinians.
