Initially seen on Broadway in 1947, the play was Miller’s first Broadway hit. It concerns businessman Joe Keller whose factory supplied defective cylinder parts to the military, resulting in the deaths of 21 pilots during World War II. EXHIBITION LADDERS TO HEAVENA new exhibition at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, explores the theme of angels in art.“Divine Messengers: Angels in Art,” featuring 30 works culled mainly from the museum’s collection, presents the angel not only as a creature that travels between different worlds but also as one that is common to all humankind regardless of time, place and faith. Works on display include Paul Klee’s masterwork Angelus Novus (1920), prints by Gustave Doré depicting scenes from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, Islamic art and illuminated Jewish marriage contracts.
4. GETTING ANIMATED The animated film Jerusalem, created for the Tower of David Museum nearly two decades ago by Emanuele Luzzati and Giulio Gianini, is a whimsical introduction to the museum’s permanent exhibition of the history of Jerusalem. The new exhibition allows a behind-thescenes glimpse of work in progress. Original works by Luzzati are displayed together with collages, drawings, sketches and cutouts of the duo’s fantastical characters, together with excerpts from their best films.

The production revolves around the city of Mahagonny, where the pleasure principle rules and where anything goes, even murder, as long as there’s the money to pay for it. The city’s three founders are on the run from the law.
